On pages 40, 41 and 272, the tick of the second hand is incorrectly described as "beats per second". A more accurate description would be "half cycles". This is due to the fact that a beat (or vibration) is considered to be a complete oscillation both "to and fro", whereas the second hand actually ticks (or steps) at each "half cycle" of the oscillation.
